Risk Assessment
Environmental Risk Assessments are becoming a more frequent requirement as part of the commercial land purchasing process. Pre-acquisition or due diligence surveys are often required by investors to satisfy any concerns about potential risks to human health, or any financial or environmental liabilities which may occur after purchase.
Geo-Environmental
Environmental problems such as gas leaching, soil or groundwater contamination resulting from prior industrial use are critical issues which if not identified at an early stage, may cause serious delays and unforeseen cost increases during a development.
Both organic and inorganic contaminants may present risks to Human Health through a variety of pathways, including dust or gas inhalation and ingestion, or through the food chain, such as through eating contaminated vegetables.
Our engineers are able to carry out both Qualitative and Quantitative Geo-Environmental risk assessments that conform to both Local Authority and Environment Agency requirements. We are then able to prepare clear, cost effective investigation and remediation strategies to enable our clients to proceed confidently with the development.
Geotechnical
Either existing or potential geotechnical risks can be established within a site and reviewed in light of the proposed development. Potential problems may present, such as slope stability, shrinkable clay soils or risks from mining which are often identifiable from our GIS database and other supporting data sources prior to any intrusive investigation taking place. An appropriate methodology can then be used to both confirm and quantify any risks before designing and implementing the best strategy to either minimise or prevent their occurrence.
